They want to form an alliance because humanity is the only species they&#8217;ve encountered that has attained space travel.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s one member of the expedition who has developed a form of telepathy that allows him to read the minds of the dominant life form on Earth. And it isn&#8217;t mankind.<\/p>\n<p>To say more would spoil the twist.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Into Your Tent I&#8217;ll Creep&#8221; was first published in the September 1957 issue of <em>Astounding<\/em>. It is currently available in <a href=\"https:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Major-Ingredients-Eric-Frank-Russell\/dp\/1886778108\/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&amp;keywords=major+ingredients+eric+frank+russell&amp;qid=1609985908&amp;s=books&amp;sr=1-1\"><em>Major Ingredients<\/em><\/a>, a large hardcover collection from NESFA Press. <em>The Best of Eric Frank Russell<\/em> contains the story, and used\u00a0 copies are available online for a lower price.
