Hello, and welcome to Dispatches From the Lone Star Front. This blog will focus on the history of Texas and the Southwest. Posting will probably be irregular for a while. I’m going to try to visit most of the places I write about. Since my dayjob is in academia, that means certain times of the year will be more conducive to traveling than others.

This blog is basically a continuation of one I did a few years ago when I was on the blog team of Home of Heroics. The focus of that blog was heroes, whether real or fictional. I chose to write about Texas heroes. Unfortunately, the blog only lasted about a year. I liked blogging about history, and when I moved my book blogs off of Blogger and set up my own site, I decided to add a blog about history. I’ve expanded the scope beyond heroes to other aspects of history. I’m probably going to rerun some of those posts here.

I’m not going to limit myself to one time period, either. I’ll examine things that interest me from prehistory to current events. There are all sorts of interesting stories that haven’t made it into the Texas mythology. You never know what I’m going to come up with. So stick with me. It’s going to be fun.
