“A Sprig of Mistletoe” by Keith West and G. Addison Blaine, Part 2

As promised yesterday, here’s the conclusion of “A Sprig of Mistletoe”, a collaboration by me and my friend Gayle Blaine. This won’t be the last  collaboration between us. We had  so much fun that we’ve decided to make this a semi-regular thing.

We have a much shorter ghost story, one very different in tone, that should go live tomorrow.

You can read the first part here. Or you can purchase the complete story here.

The conclusion of this story has been taken down.

And that one hit another chord for me in regard to ghost stories – I love ghost stories that take something mundane and make it into something mysterious or horrific. So, I enjoyed the sprig of mistletoe that kept showing up. However, I have one suggestion for old guys like me. In the first section, I caught the Rough Riders reference and since it was five years later, I knew it was about 1903 or 1904. Then the next section came and I didn’t pick up on the switch in time. So, later when they get in their “car” and Jessica teaches at a “community college,” I was pondering why these non-1903 items were showing up. That was weird until I realized the difference in time. So, maybe a quick reference to more modern times in that second section to help old guys like me who might not be so quick on the uptake. Kind of like the insertion of the Rough Riders or the time jump with the Spanish Flu reference, both of which I liked (and appreciated). Good romantic, sentimental ghost story. Very appropriate for the Christmas season.

    Happy New Year everyone!
